  The general fluid intelligence (gF) reflects the general cognitive ability of human beings, but its structure is still disputed. To explore the structure of the gF and its aging mechanism, 12 tasks involving 3 special cognitive abilities, were used to measure 4 general cognitive abilities including processing speed, working memory,divided attention and selective attention, in younger and elder participants. Taking those basic cognitive abilities, gF and age as potential variables, the structure models of the gF and its aging were built.
    These models indicate that:
    1 .To measure the basic cognitive abilities including processing speed, working     memory, divided attention and selective attention, using the straightforward basic cognitive tasks can avoid the influence of special cognitive abilities related to certain stimuli type, and reflect those general cognitive abilities directly and reliably.
    2.   Processing speed and selective attention are the main components of gF. Although they determine the level of gF together, processing speed plays a more important role. Selective attention also influences the level of processing speed  at the same time as it influences the gF.
    3 .Processing speed and selective attention work as mediations in the aging of gF,also processing speed is more important than selective attention. Besides those  two factors, age influences the gF through some other unknown factors.
