The rapid development of the Internet and its social penetrations are changing Adolescents’ lifestyles. Internet disorder has become an increasingly severe problem with Chinese adolescents. Adolescence is a crucial stage for the development of self-control, therefore, the study on the relationship between adolescent self-control and Internet addiction can assist our inquiry about the development laws of self cont}0ol during the adolescence and its psychological and physiological mechanisms, and provide a basis for early identification and correction of self-control disorders and deficiencies, which would play a positive role in the prevention and control of Internet addiction among the adolescents. Thi0ough the approach of questionnaire survey, this research cai0ries out a study on Internet addiction and the dual system of self control among 2,898 students coming from six provinces, namely, Ningxia, Shanxi, Sichuan, Fujian, Jilin and Anhui, to analyze the effect of the dual system of self-control in different age groups of adolescents on the on Internet addiction. The major findings of this research are as follows:
1 .Internet addiction is negatively correlated to the self control system, positively correlated to the impulsive system, and negatively correlated to the control system; compared with female students, male students are more inclined to be addicted to the Internet; age is also significantly correlated to Internet addiction, which presents a rising trend as the age increases; there is no reciprocal action between the impulsive and control systems, and the impulsive system is more associated with Internet addiction than the control system.
2 .There is an reciprocal action between the sex and control systems, so too between sex and the impulse systems compared with female students, the control system and the impulsive a system pose larger effects on Internet addiction among male students.
3. Based on different grades the subjects are divided into the college group and the elementary and high-school group. Compared with the elementary- and high4school group9 subjects from the college group are more prone to be addicted to Internet. There is an edge saliency with the interaction between grades and the impulsive system, but no interaction is found with the control system. The influence of the impulsive system on adolescents in the college stage has a significant difference from those in the elementary-and high-school stage, while no significant difference is found for the influence of the control system on Internet addiction from subjects in the elementary- and high-school stage. The influence of the impulsive system on Internet addiction of adolescents in the college stage is more significant than those in the elementary- and high-school stage, but its influence on Internet addiction exhibits a weakening trend along with the rise of the impulsive system.
