Cognitive restructuring is a key component of cognitive therapy, but its neural mechanism remains unknown probably for the reason that clinical therapy is time-consuming and includes many components working together. The present project intends to establish an experimental paradigm of insightful cognitive restructuring which would simulate clinical therapy. Thus the neural activities correlated with cognitive restructuring can be observed through empirical study. First, we would develop a set of experimental material which can repeatedly induce insightful cognitive restructuring in a short time. The description of maladaptive attitude and cognitive restructuring are made mini but clear in order to lock the process of insightful cognitive restructuring. Second, considering that these materials including multiple events in a limited time, we would compare various degree and categories of restructuring by using ERP and fMRI measures, to observe the characteristics of neural activities correlated with insightful cognitive restructuring. Third, we would use the subjects with characteristic of cognitive restructuring and with anxious characteristic to observe their specific characteristic when they are conducting the task of cognitive restructuring and they are in a rest state.
