摘要 | HCI specialists are fully aware that effective use of color can enhance interaction design. Therefore a precise mapping between colors’ physical attributes and human perception is needed. Whereas the CIELch color space is a useful mapping, we sought to examine whether the existence of the category perception effect suggested some further amendment should be made. We used the paradigm adapted from the Portal color sort test (PCST) and recruited 101 undergraduate students to test our hypothesis. We found that participants’ ability to order the hue correctly increased as color categories increased. Future research should consider the color categorization effect in color space modeling. Practitioners should consider this categorization effect when choosing hues to represent order. |
