Objective:To explore the risk propensity of amphetamine-type stimulants abusers and to find out whether the characteristics of risk propensity are the risk factors of drug abuse. Methods:Investigation was conducted among 42 male amphetamine-type stimulants abusers and 24 healthy male controls by using the Risk Propensity Scale(RPS), Sensation Seeking Scale(SSS) and Barratt Impulsiveness Scale(BIS). Results:Compared with healthy controls, amphetamine-type stimulants abusers exhibited significantly higher scores on risk propensity, sensation seeking and impulsivity(all P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that experience seeking(OR=3.16, 95% CI=1.25~8.00) and motor impulsivity(OR=1.92, 95% CI=1.25~2.95) had significant impact on amphetamine-type stimulants abusers. Conclusion:These findings suggest that amphetamine-type stimulants abusers had higher risk propensity and experience seeking and motor impulsivity are risk factors in drug abuse.
