The Relationship between the Idiosyncratic Meta-emotion of Medical Personnel and the Emotion Regulation Strategies of Children: the Mediating Role of the Concept of Parental Meta-emotion
Emotional regulation strategy is the behavior or cognition used by individuals to change or control the responses related to emotions .The two most commonly used and valuable emotional regulation strategies are cognitive reappraisal and expression inhibition .In the process of early socialization, children learn to use different emotional regulation strategies to deal with interpersonal conflicts, regulate behaviors and achieve coordination with the environment.Domestic and foreign studies have shown that parents' emotional state has an influence on the occurrence and development of their children's emotions. From the perspective of empirical research, this study will examine the relationship between parents' idiosyncratic meta-emotions, meta-emotional concepts and children's emotional regulation strategies. In this study, a total of 396 medical personnel in hospitals in shandong, Beijing, ningxia, hebei and other places were investigated through questionnaires. Through self-reported questionnaires, the idiosyncrasy-meta-emotion and parent-meta-emotion concepts of medical personnel were measured. The children who participated in the survey were the children of medical personnel from grade 3 to grade 6 in primary school. The main results of the study are as follows: 1. When facing emotional problems in primary school, male students in senior grades often use expression inhibition to control their emotions compared with female students. The use of expression inhibition increases with age in children. 2. Children's cognitive reappraisal showed a significant positive correlation with each sub-scale and teaching of trait element emotion, and a lower significant negative correlation with non-interference and loss of control.Suppression of expression was negatively correlated with emotional recovery and emotional discrimina 3. The medical emotional recovery has a direct and positive predictive effect on children's cognitive reappraisal, and teaching as an intermediary has an indirect predictive effect on children's cognitive reappraisal. 4. The medical emotional recovery has a direct and reverse predictive effect on their children's expression inhibition, and it has an indirect predictive effect on their children's expression inhibition through elimination. The above results support the conclusion that parental meta-emotion plays an intermediary role in the relationship between the medical staff’s trait meta-emotion and children's emotional regulation strategies.
