Psychological abuse and neglect in childhood are more challenging, universal and potentially destructive than physical and sexual abuse. Their concealment and long-term nature also make it difficult to be found and intervened in time, resulting in the difficulty of intimate relationship in adult. However, its specific impact and mode of action have not been studied. Objective: To investigate the effect of childhood psychological abuse and neglect on the quality of marriage in adulthood, and the specific mechanism of fear of intimacy and perceived social support.
Methods: in this study, married people were taken as the research object. Data was collected by random sampling through professional research network platforms such wjx.cn, credamo.com, wechat and offfine questionnaires. Four sales were used in this study, the child psychological abuse and neglect scale,the intimacy fear scale IFS, the perceived social support scale PSSS, and the subjective feelings of marriage scale MPS.305 valid samples of married people were finally obtained and analyzed. Finally, statistical analysis software SPSS 26 and macro program process were used to analyze the collected data. The results showed that children's psychological abuse and neglect had a negative predictive effect on the quality of marriage in adulthood; Fear of intimacy completely mediates the psychological abuse and neglect of children and the quality of marriage; Perceived social support partially mediates the childhood psychological abuse and neglect and the quality of marriage; Fear of intimacy and perceived social support jointly played a chain intermediary role between childchood psychological abuse and neglect and marriage quality. At the same time, perceived social support positively regulated the relationship between fear of intimacy and marriage quality.
Therefore, this study concluded that:
1 .Child psychological abuse and neglect negatively predict the quality of adult marriage;
2.Intimate fear plays a complete mediating role between childhood psychological abuse and neglect and adult marriage quality, childhood psychological abuse and neglect positively predict intimate fear, while intimate fear negatively predict adult marriage quality.
3. Perceived social support not only moderates the impact of child psychological abuse and neglect on marital quafity, but also positively moderates the latter half of the mediating effect when intimate fear fully mediates the relationship between child psychological abuse and neglect and marital quality. When the level of perceived social support is low or high, the negative predictive effect of intimate fear on marital quality is obvious, but with the increase of the level of intimate fear, the decfine of marital quality is slower for people with higher level of perceived social support.
