其他摘要 | In recent years, the gay community has attracted increasing social attention. Foreign research on this group has gradually shifted its focus from focusing on negative effects to exploring ways to improve the subjective well-being of this group. Relatively speaking, there are few studies on this group in China. Therefore, this study takes the internalized homophobia as a breakthrough to try to understand the current situation of subjective well-being and its influencing factors, so as to provide a reference for subsequent subjective well-being research in this group.
Subjective well-being includes both subjective well-being and subjective unhappiness, each with a different dimension. Subjective well-being includes life satisfaction, positive emotions, and subjective unhappiness includes anxiety, depression, and other negative emotions, which are common emotional characteristics of the gay community. In order to understand the influence mechanism of internalized homophobia in the homosexual community on their subjective well-being, this study was divided into two parts: study one, 275 homosexual participants living in Chengdu were included in the study, and the internalized homophobia scale, rejection sensitivity scale, and anxiety scale were used to understand the effect of internalized homophobia on anxiety in homosexuals; In the second study, 411 homosexual subjects and 205 ordinary residents in Chengdu were included in the study, and the internalized homophobia scale, self-esteem scale, comprehension social support scale and subjective happiness scale were used to explore the impact of internalized homophobia on their subjective well-being and compare the current situation of the two groups.
Study 1 found that internalized homophobia significantly positively affects anxiety, while rejection sensitivity plays a partial mediating role between internalized homophobia and anxiety. Study 2 found that the degree of internalized homophobia in homosexuals could not predict subjective well-being, and the level of internalized homophobia in the sample group was low. Self-esteem levels, positive emotions, and negative emotions were on par with the average resident score, and comprehension social support and life satisfaction levels were slightly lower than those of the general resident. The scores of psychological variables of homosexuals differ significantly in demographic variables such as relationship status, education level, family situation, place of birth, and income level. Homosexuals internalized homophobia is negatively correlated with self-esteem, comprehension of social support, and positive emotions, while internalized homophobia is not associated with life satisfaction and negative emotions. Self-esteem mediates between internalized homophobia and understanding social support.
This paper aims to explore the effects of internalized homophobia in homosexuals on their subjective well-being. The results showed that the internalized homolophony of homosexuals was positively correlated with anxiety, and internalized homophony had a predictive effect on anxiety. The level of subjective well-being of the homosexual community is lower than that of the general population, and internalized homophobia is not an effective predictor of subjective well-being. Therefore, future research on the gay community should not only focus on the impact of sexual orientation on mental health, but should adopt a more comprehensive and multi-angle research method to promote the improvement of the subjective well-being of the gay community, so as to promote the harmonious development of Chinese society. |
