其他摘要 | The mental health status of junior high school students is in an important period of development, during which they need to adapt to rapid and drastic changes in their physical and mental health, as well as various pressures, which can easily lead to psychological problems and poor psychological conditions. Research has found that there is a significant relationship between individuals' growth mindset and multiple indicators of their mental health. Individuals who hold growth mindset tend to be more proactive in their mindset and cognitive changes when facing problems, and actively solve problems they encounter. However, there is a lack of research on the mechanism by which growth mindset affects mental health, Therefore, this article will conduct two in-depth studies to investigate the impact mechanism of growth mindset on mental health, as well as the impact of growth mindset on mental health and professional psychological seeking attitude. This study designed the following two studies:
Study 1 used a questionnaire survey method to explore the relationship between growth mindset and mental health, as well as professional psychological seeking attitude. Middle school students were tested using the Mental Health Diagnostic Test (MHT), Implicit Personality Theory Questionnaire (IPT-Q), and Attitude towards Seeking Professional Psychological Assistance Questionnaire (ATSPPH), and basic information such as grade and gender was collected. A total of 263 valid questionnaires were ultimately collected. The analysis of variance was used to compare the growth mindset, mental health status, and professional psychological seeking attitude of students of different grades and genders. Pearson correlation coefficient analysis and regression analysis were used to understand the relationship between the three variables. The results show that the mental health status and growth mindset of second year students are worse than that of first year students. Among first and second year students, the mental health status of male students is better than that of female students in the same grade; There is a positive correlation between growth mindset, mental health status, and professional psychological help seeking attitude among junior high school students. Professional psychological help seeking attitude plays a mediating role in the relationship between growth mindset and mental health.
Study 2 further explored the impact of growth mindset on professional psychological seeking attitude and mental health by improving middle school students' growth mindset. A one class (45 minute) single growth mindset intervention course was designed based on the mature growth mindset intervention paradigm. All participants filled out the MHT scale, IPT-Q scale, and ATSPPH scale for pre test, post test, and follow-up testing before intervention, 4 weeks after intervention completion, and 4 months after intervention completion. In the end, a total of 181 participants completed all stages of the questionnaire, including 83 in the experimental group and 98 in the control group. By analyzing and exploring the impact of a single intervention in growth mindset on growth mindset, mental health, and professional psychological seeking attitude. The results showed that the post-test scores and follow-up scores of the IPT-Q and ATSPPH questionnaires in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group, while the MHT post-test scores and follow-up scores in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group. Improving the growth mindset of junior high school students can simultaneously enhance their mental health status and professional psychological seeking attitude, and can last for a certain period of time.
This study explore the characteristics of mental health among junior high school students, as well as the relationship between individual growth mindset, mental health, and professional psychological help seeking attitude. The mechanism by which growth mindset affects mental health was deeply explored, and relevant theoretical research was expanded. Through intervention research, the improvement of the psychological health status and professional psychological help seeking attitude of participants was promoted in practical application, This provides empirical support for improving the mental health status of adolescents and provides effective reference basis for formulating plans to enhance the mental health of middle school students. |
