AbstractThe Life Events Inventory(Perris, 1984) was administered to 1000 Swedish participants in 10 age cohorts. A principle component analysis extracted five factors among the 54 critical life events (CLE), namely work issues, family life, life challenges, health issues, and relatives. Most of the CLEs experienced were expected and were easy to adjust to. When summarizing data across participants, data revealed that very few of the participants could influence the CLEs that occurred. When summarizing data across variables, all life events were almost equally evaluated with respect to influence, adjustment, and valence.
