Students' perception of their study: Sentence completion test in 200 middle-school students

Abstract200 middle-school students finished a sentence completion test (SCT) for 20 incomplete sentences. The SCT was designed to assess students’ thoughts and feelings related to their academic achievements, and also their perception of influence from their parents and teachers. Students’ responses were analyses by the dimensions they finished the SCT, and also relations between different responses. Analysis of the high frequency response showed the effect of defense and also the influence of mainstream opinion of the society. Findings were interpreted with respect to the theory of attribution and achievement motivation. Implications for research using SCT are discussed.
