摘要	Two experiments were carried out to investigate how correspondence between accentuation and information structure influenced discourse comprehension, using sentence-by-sentence auditory moving window technique and word recognition respectively. The results showed that: inappropriate accentuation slowed discourse comprehension, compared to appropriate and neutral accentuation; although appropriately accented sentence was not processed faster than neutrally accented sentence, activation of important new information was enhanced in the former than in the later condition, which took place about 1000 ms after the offset of accented words and lasted for a relatively long time. Therefore, inappropriate accentuation impeded discourse processing and appropriate accenting accelerated discourse comprehension.
