Abstract840 undergraduates' familiarities with 100-surnames and 100-forenames were rated with 5-point scale. Results showed that: (1) Familiarity of surname had negative skew distribution, while that of forename had approximate normal distribution. (2) Frequency and familiarity of surnames were more closely related in name pool than in word pool. (3) Compare with frequency of first-character, frequency of second-character in forename was more closely related with familiarity of forenames. (4) Familiarity of several surnames and forenames had significant gender, specialty, and grade differences, indicated that they are not suitable for memory experiments. Theoretical implication and potential application were discussed.
