AbstractA set of experiments is done to tailor well-established behavior paradigm of conditioned place preference (CPP) to newly hatched chicks. The procedure is analogous to that of CPP and originality lies in, for morphine-treated group, a string of red beads is paired with drug and blue beads with saline during six training trials. Results demonstrated that, compared with control group, morphine-treated group showed significant conditioned pecking behavior toward reward-relating red beads; and therefore confirmed the establishment of preference for red beads, suggesting an avian model might be ideal in studying cue-elicited drug conditioning with respect to color visual cues.
