Nostalgia is a complex emotional state missed by the past. It is an emotional experience. And some studies see nostalgia as a positive experience, a resource that enables people to acquire and maintain meaningful feelings about their lives. According to the theory of expanding and constructing positive emotions, the positive emotions triggered by nostalgia can be used as a personal resource and have an important impact on the physical and mental health and well-being of individuals. This study investigated the effects of nostalgia on life satisfaction and the multiple mediating effects of self-esteem and positive emotions in 477 College students. The results showed that: (1) For example, nostalgia, self-esteem, positive emotions and life satisfaction, the average score was higher than the theoretical median, indicating a higher score on the four variables.(2)The nostalgia scores of female college students (M = 4.67) were higher than that of male college students (M = 4.54), and the ranking of nostalgia scores of sophomores (M = 4.64) was the highest, followed by freshmen (M = 4.63) students, the nostalgia score (M=4.62) of third students are the lowest. (3)Nostalgia was positively correlated with positive emotions (r = 0.12, P < 0.01) and life satisfaction (r = 0.13, P < 0.01); positive emotions were positively correlated with self-esteem (r = 0.36, P < 0.001), life satisfaction (r = 0.44, P < 0.001); self-esteem was positively correlated with life satisfaction (r = 0.32, P < 0.001). (4) Structural equation model analysis showed that nostalgia had a significant direct effect on life satisfaction (beta = 0.15, P < 0.05), and the direct effect accounted for 60% of the total effect. The indirect effect of nostalgia on life satisfaction was also significant (beta = 0.08, P < 0.05), and the proportion of indirect effect to total effect was 40%. In the indirect effect, nostalgia is mainly mediated by positive emotions and positive emotions and self-esteem chain mediation. In the contemporary era, college students' mental health has always been the focus of attention in Colleges and universities. With the rise of positive psychology movement, in the maintenance and promotion of College Students' mental health, the role of exploring positive psychology will undoubtedly play a significant role.
