Objective: The purpose of the study was to investigate the differences of children’s personality in Western and Eastern cultures. Methods: 138 children of Beijing and 491 children of Greece were tested with the Fairy Tale Test established by Prof. C. Coulacoglou. Results: ①Chinese children got lower scores of the variable of adaptation to fairy tale
content than Grecian children (P<0.01). ②There are significant differences in the variables of self- esteem and desire to help others between boys and girls in China, and there are significant differences in the variables of fear of aggression, need for affection, sexual preoccupation, and sense of property between boys and girls in Greece. ③There are significant differences in the variables of need for affiliation, aggression as envy, oral needs, need for affection, desire for material things, desire for superiority, sexual preoccupation, and depression between Chinese and Grecian children.④There are interactions
between cultures and sexes in the variables of aggression as envy, need for affection, depression and sexual preoccupation. Conclusion: There are different characters between Chinese and Grecian children’s personality; sexes play a certain role in the personality children.
