Objective To investigate the prevalence rate of internet addiction disorder （lAD） in technological college students, and to provide evidence for prevention measures. Methods Self-assssment questionnaires were used for investigation lAD among 1192 college students from an institute of technology. Results The lAD rate of the students was 8.7%, the rate of the male students （9.5%） was higher than that of the female （4.9%, χ^2 =4.025, P〈0.05）, the rate of Grade 3 students （ 13.1% ） was significantly higher than that of the Grade 2 （9.8%） and Grade 1 （5.8%, χ^2 = 11.885, P〈0.01 ）. The male students＇ scores of the items such as negative evaluation, daily effect, possible reason and the total scores were higher than the female＇s （P〈0.05）. The scores of the items such as self-control capability, negative evaluation, daily effect and the total scores were significantly different among the three grades （ P 〈 0.05 ）. Conclusion We should take different prevention measures on students with different gender and grade, and attach importance to the behavior and mentality of college students.
