After the outbreak of COVID-19, people's concern for wildlife has been increased.By combing the relevant theories and research of wildlife conservation education, it can be found that although there are rich research results, the existing education methods are relatively traditional, and most of the research subjects in the related scale are adults. In view of the above situation, in this study, low-grade primary school students are taken as the research samples. This experiment revised and examined the environmental knowledge, empathy and pro-environmental behavior intention scale for children, and adopted anthropomorphic story education more in line with the characteristics of children's psychological development. The difference between anthropomorphic story education methods and traditional education methods on children's environmental education was explored. Intervention and empirically examined the mechanism of anthropomorphic education on pro-environmental behavior intention. At the same time, the mediating mechanism of the impact of environmental knowledge and empathy on pro-environmental behavior intention is discussed. Methods: Between-subjects design is adopted. In the pilot primary schools of environmental education in Sichuan Province, 402 first and second grade students participate in the study. The teaching methods include traditional educational methods and anthropomorphic story educational methods. This study selected ten representative kinds of wildlife to write environmental education experimental materials. The traditional education group played audio material of pure wildlife knowledge. Correspondingly, the anthropomorphic story education group plays audio material of anthropomorphic wildlife. A total of ten environmental education experiments were conducted in the classroom, and questionnaires distribution and data collection is conducted before and after the experiment. Results: (1) Environmental education can significantly improve the level of environmental knowledge and pro-environmental behavior intention in the pilot primary schools. (2) The anthropomorphic story education methods are significantly better than the traditional education methods in environmental knowledge, empathy and pro-environmental behavior intention. (3) Empathy plays an intermediary role in the influence of education methods on pro-environmental behavior intention. Conclusion: Anthropomorphic story education has significant advantages in wildlife conservation education for lower students in primary schools. This paper is not only complements the research of environmental psychology on children's pro-environmental behavior intention, but also expands the influence mechanism among teaching methods, environmental knowledge, empathy and pro-environmental behavior intention. At the same time, the results of the study have important reference significance for school education, family education and social education.
